"To do list"

Sure, I'd be glad to work on a larger scale project. Just let me know.

Hi January, I started a "Ballotpedia:To do list" in the hopes that it will provide an easy way for people unfamiliar with BP to start adding and/or organizing content. I think it can also serve as a touchpoint for regular BP contributors to make sure they are all on the same wavelength. Let me know what you think! Gardengnome

| * Arizona pages per your suggestion : I would support creating a "path to the ballot" style article as a post-election clean-up campaign, as Arizona had a tremendous problem this year with the submission of invalid certificates. But I think the focus for the next three weeks should be to continue to monitor and provide information that helps citizens make an informed decision about their ballots. Just my two cents. azdavidpedia 17:42, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I definitely prefer the "new way" of categorization that you recommended. Gardengnome

Hey there= You edited Maine Ballot Measures 2008 and added an erroneous catagory, the Bond Issue. This was placed on the June 10th ballot by the Secretary of State - never posted by the Election Commission - and already passed by the legislature Was already ratified by voters in the primary elections. Since this was not a citizen initiative or veto referendum but a ratification by law, it probably should have had a separate posting. However this was before my time. As it stands, I have put information on it's page that you initiated. Will remove it from Nov 08 election ballot chart and put it in a new catagory: State Initated Referendums. Think that should solve this. Jan Forbes, July 31, 2008 10:50 pm

Hi January, I wonder if you'd consider adding more information to your main user page about the articles you think we need on BP.

I could also use some help writing summaries for the Florida 2008 ballot measures.-Kristinpedia, Dec. 13, 2007 9:38am

  1. Citizens Insurance shall be reformed as a mutual ownership private company
  2. Comprehensive Health Care Service for All Persons
  3. Florida's Billboard Amendment
  4. End Corporate Welfare
  5. Extending sales tax to non-taxed services where exclusion fails to serve public purposes

-Thanks for your help! Kristinpedia, Dec. 13, 2007 3:21pm

Organizing the Ballotpedia law project

How Can I Contribute?

State laws governing initiatives

  • For every I&R state, there is an article about its laws governing the initiative. These articles should all be checked and improved.
  • One way to improve our law articles is to include more historical material about how initiative laws in the I&R states have changed over time.
  • Articles about specific statutes, such as those collected in Changes in 2007 to laws governing the initiative process. We should improve these articles where possible and make sure that the state I&R law articles incorporate the latest information.

Ballot access law cases

  • Add redlinks to articles about court cases we haven't covered yet.
  • Write articles about red-linked court cases.
  • Add to and improve existing court case articles.

Let's finish by the end of May 2008

Sign up here.

Thank you! These awards are going to be fun. January

Glad you like it :)

The page was just empty without his grinning face on there.--Chance 11:52, 1 August 2008 (CDT)

Hello, I would like to work on the Donor List page.

I would like to add articles for the the Category:Ballot measure donors. I am looking for some guidance on how to do this. Thanks--Johnwynnejr 22:49, 27 March 2009 (CDT)

Ballot Measure Donors

I am extremely into this idea about writing to ballot measure donors. Is there anyway that you could put me in charge of the ballot measure donor project? Also, again I just don't have a clue as to how to navigate the FEC website. I thought that maybe you do based on your writing. Thanks--Johnwynnejr 21:09, 8 April 2009 (CDT)

Ballot news

Great idea! I love it. I'll definitely use it for the state ballot measure articles. BaileyL 13:08, 18 October 2009 (CDT)

I was able to successfully ad the box to the [State 2009 ballot measure] articles but unfortunately when I added it to the individual articles it appears to interfere with the references section. Is there anyway to fix this? (BaileyL 15:16, 20 October 2009 (CDT))

Not that important....

I'll undo what I did previously. I have so much going on that it may not be for a little while. I just have priorities and this isn't one of them. Thanks for all your contributions to BP. You have the highest amount of edits of all the volunteers.--Johnwynnejr 20:33, 25 January 2010 (CST)

A bit confused...

I started to do what I can to reverse those things to the vetoes. I am now seeing that you use "referenda" and "referendum". This may take awhile. Feel free to pitch in. You understand your organization better than anyone.--Johnwynnejr 09:57, 26 January 2010 (CST)

My newest creations

  • ApprovedaUpheld
  • DefeateddVetoed

I am not taking credit for creating this. I just put it in template form and think it should be used for all veto referendum ballot measures. Veto referendums are oftentimes confusing to readers. A "YES" votes often upholds the measures. This means that the sponsors of veto referendums try for a "NO" vote. I don't think that most people understand that and that is why I created this.--Johnwynnejr 14:03, 27 January 2010 (CST)

ApprovedaUpheld - yeah, that alright--Johnwynnejr 23:11, 31 January 2010 (CST)

The right edit? Up for discussion...

ApprovedaUpheld - Take a look at Maine Sexual Orientation Referendum (2005). Against the ordinary, this veto referendum has a "Yes" vote meaning that they wanted to reject it. It isn't that big of a deal. I think it is still ok to keep the template as they are.--Johnwynnejr 10:26, 2 February 2010 (CST)

Spacing, let me be specific....

I appreciate your offer of advice. Let me explain exactly what I am speaking of and see if you have any suggestions. Take a look at this:

Open and Clean Government Act - South Dakota

  • Defeatedd Defeated on the November 4th, 2008 ballot [1]

Recall Speaker of the House Andy Dillon - 17th House District Michigan

  • Defeatedd Defeated on the November 4th, 2008 ballot [2]

Civil Rights Initiative - Colorado

  • Defeatedd Defeated on the November 4th, 2008 ballot [3]

Civil Rights Initiative - Nebraska

  • Approveda Approved on the November 4th, 2008 ballot [4]

The spacing between the petition name and outcome if bigger than the gap between the outcome and the next petitions name.....Any suggestions?

Recent news

I cannt get this article to show up in "Recent news" on the Main Page. Can you please help me accomplish this?

I've asked a few other writers, but no dice.

Worked....still a problem

That worked! It just shows up as the last article. I guess not that big of deal. I tried deleting the info and then re-entering, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Worked again

One last problem.......my link in the "See also" title isn't working? Any suggestions.

Greatly appreciated,
