Elections for the office of Utah State Senate will take place in 2014. A primary election took place June 24, 2014. The general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 20, 2014. Heading into the election, the Republican Party controls the chamber. The following table details the 10 districts with the smallest margin of victory in the November 6, 2012, general election.

The 2014 U.S. House of Representatives elections in Utah will take place on November 4, 2014. Voters will elect four candidates to serve in the U.S. House, one from each of the state's four congressional districts.

A total of 14 Utah school districts among America's largest school districts by enrollment will hold elections in 2014. These districts feature 45 seats up for election. Each district has scheduled elections on November 4, 2014. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the districts listed below serve 466,444 K-12 students.[17]

Important voting information

  • Utah has a mixed primary system. Currently, only Republicans close their primary. Democrats and Independents can vote in the Democratic primary. Conventions are held by the political parties prior to the primary.
  • As of July 2014, Utah is one of the 15 states that have implemented online voter registration. Residents can register online at this website

Voting early

Utah is one of 33 states that have early voting with no specific requirements as to who can vote early. Early voting begins 14 days before an election and ends the Friday prior to Election Day.[18][19] The average number of days prior to an election that voters can cast an early ballot is 21 days in states with a definitive starting date.

Elections Performance Index

Utah ranked 10th out of the 50 states and District of Columbia in the Pew Charitable Trusts' Elections Performance Index (EPI), based on the 2012 elections. The EPI examines election administration performance and assigns an average percentage score based on 17 indicators of election performance. These indicators were chosen to in order to determine both the convenience and integrity of these three phases of an election: registration, voting and counting. Utah received an overall score of 70%.[20]
