Located in the New England region of the Northeastern United States, Vermont is bordered by New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Canada. In addition, Vermont is the only New England state that is not bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. Nicknamed “the Green Mountain state” and the leading maple syrup producer in the U.S., Vermont was the 14th state admitted to the Union in 1791. While Montpelier is Vermont’s capital, the city of Burlington is the largest city in Vermont.
