The Virginia Commissioner of Labor and Industry is a state executive position in the Virginia state government. The current officeholder is Courtney Malveaux.

Authority

The Commissioner of Labor and Industry is authorized by Title 40, Chapter 1 of the Code of Virginia.[1]

Appointments

According to Title 4, Chapter 1 of the Code of Virginia, the commissioner is selected by gubernatorial appointment. The Commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor for a term coincident with that of the Governor.[2]

Compensation

In 2011, the Virginia Commissioner of Labor and Industry was paid an estimated $125,759, according to the Council of State Governments.[3]
