|W. Brad Tidwell|
|Virginia House of Delegates, District 53|
|Bachelor's||Tulane University, 2009|
|Profession||Small business owner|
Tidwell graduated from Tulane University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and American Studies. After graduating, he worked with political campaigning online and through social media. He co-founded Infrared Productions, an online communications and web design business.
Tidwell’s website highlighted the following campaign themes:
Excerpt: "From absurd daily congestion on our roadways and highways to substandard and unreliable mass transit, Northern Virginians are subjected to delays and frustration. As Delegate, I will propose a plan to alter the way transportation is funded across the Commonwealth to ensure every area is getting appropriate funding for their roads. This means looking at transportation funding from a new angle; not an angle of partisan politics or political favors, but through the lens of what the people of Virginia need."
Excerpt: "Having been home schooled until 10th grade and then transitioning to public school, I understand the decisions parents and students make about the best course of action for each child. As Delegate, I will fight to give parents the tools they need to make solid educational choices for their children. I’m a solid supporter of our public schools – some of the best in the nation – and will continue to support the schools, administrators, teachers, and, most of all, the students in the General Assembly."
Excerpt: " As Delegate, I will support common sense solutions to make private healthcare insurance more affordable to everyone. I support the General Assembly’s decision to form a panel to study the expansion of Medicaid so that Virginia can make responsible decisions that are good for Virginia families."
Excerpt: "From jobs to healthcare, our veterans deserve the best our Commonwealth has to offer. As Delegate, caring for our women and men in uniform will never be pushed to the back burner. I will stand in full support of programs like the Veterans Services’ Virginia Values Veterans Program, or V3, that has provided over 4,000 jobs to Virginia’s veterans."
Excerpt: "Every aspect of the government should be freely available online for taxpayers to see. Virginians have a right to know how their tax dollars are spent. After all, it is your money, not the government’s. By making the actions in the General Assembly more easily accessible, you can track your tax dollars just like you track your family budget."
Tidwell ran in the 2013 election for Virginia House of Delegates District 53. Tidwell ran unopposed in the June 11th Republican Primary. He was defeated by Marcus Simon (D) in the general election on November 5, 2013.
