Sanstead announced on February 17, 2012 that he will not seek re-election in 2012. He noted "I've found real meaning in my life being a leader. Public service has been my life. So the decision didn't come lightly."[1]
Biography
A native of Arkansas, Sanstead studied speech and political science at St. Olaf College. He later went on to earn advanced degrees in communications and secondary education. After graduating from St. Olaf, he taught for a year in Luverne, Minnesota before moving to Minot, North Dakota in 1960, where he taught high school for 18 years.[1]
