A West Traverse Township Nature Preserve Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of West Traverse, which is in Emmet County.

This measure was approved

This measure sought to renew the current nature preserve levy which is set at a rate of $.25 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for operational and maintenance costs of the Thorne Swift Nature Preserve in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation proposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on General Ad Valorem Taxes within West Traverse Township, be renewed at 0.25 mils ($0.25 per $1,000 of the taxable value) for the period 2012 through 2015 inclusive, for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Thorne Swift Nature Preserve; and shall the township levy such millage for such purpose, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $68,000?[3]
