William "Sam" McCann is a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate. He has represented District 49 since 2011.

McCann owns and operates McCann Construction Company, a general contractor serving central Illinois and eastern Missouri. In 2007, he served as President of the Home Builders Association of Illinois; in 2004, he was President of the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association. McCann and his wife, Vicki, have two young children. He attended Lewis & Clark Community College and Blackburn College.

McCann won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 50. McCann defeated Gray Noll in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012 and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3][4]
