William Haine is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. Haine has served in the Illinois Senate since 2002 after being appointed by former Governor George Ryan to the seat. Before becoming a Senator, Haine served as the Madison County State's Attorney from 1988 to 2002 and was a Member of the Madison County Board of Commissioners in 1978 and from 1982 to 1988.

Haine graduated from Saint Louis University with his Bachelor's degree in 1967 and his Juris Doctor degree in 1974.
