William McCoy (b. August 14, 1942) is the Democratic Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He has represented the 3rd District since 1980 and served as Speaker of the House since 2004.

McCoy is a farmer. He earned his BS from Mississippi State University and attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College. He previously worked as a loan officer for the Farmers Home Administration, Auditor for the Mississippi State Department of Audit, and a Vocational Agriculture Teacher.

McCoy is a member of the Shriners, Farm Bureau, Masons, and Northeast Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees.[1]

On May 25, 2011, McCoy announced he would not seek re-election in 2011.[2]

On November 6, 2007 McCoy was re-elected in District 3, defeating Truman Lambert in the primary election by a margin of 878-330[3] and Republican challenger William Tracy Arnold in the general election.
