Welcome to Wisconsin on Ballotpedia!

Located in the north-central, Great Lakes region of the United States, the state of Wisconsin is bordered by Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Nicknamed both “the Badger state” and “America’s Dairyland,” Wisconsin was the 30th state admitted to the Union in 1848. While Madison is the state’s capital, the city of Milwaukee is the state’s largest city. Currently, there are two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of 8 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 33 members of the Wisconsin State Senate and 99 members of the Wisconsin State Assembly. As of September 2013, Wisconsin is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.
