The Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance is a state executive position in the Wisconsin state government. The postition was created by the legislature in 1871, and has not changed drastically over the past 125 years.[1] In 1871 the office was created to ensure that the insurance industry "responsibly and adequately met the insurance needs of Wisconsin citizens."[1] Presently, the mission of the office is to lead the way in informing and protecting the public and responding to its insurance needs.[1]

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Ted Nickel.


In 2010, the Wisconsin Attorney General was paid an estimated $117,980 according to the Council of State Governments.[2]
