The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is charged with sustaining and enhancing Wisconsin's natural resources and environment. A cornerstone of their mission is providing for outdoor recreation in Wisconsin.[1]

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Cathy Stepp.

Stepp was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin.[2] Stepp and her husband own a construction business. In 2002, Stepp successfully challenged Democratic State Senator Kim Plache for Plache's State Senate seat. From 2003 until 2007, Stepp served in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 21st District.[2] Stepp chose not to run for re-election in 2006.[2]

Compensation

In 2010, the Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources was paid an estimated $130,623 according to the Council of State Governments.[3]
