The Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources
is a state executive position in the Wisconsin state government. The superintendent's responsibilities include providing leadership for Wisconsin's public school districts, providing the public with information about school management, attendance, and performance, licensing the state's teachers, and receiving and disbursing federal aid for schools.
The current officeholder is Cathy Stepp.
Stepp was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Stepp and her husband own a construction business. In 2002, Stepp successfully challenged Democratic State Senator Kim Plache for Plache's State Senate seat. From 2003 until 2007, Stepp served in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 21st District. Stepp chose not to run for re-election in 2006.
In 2010, the Wisconsin Secretary of Natural Resources was paid an estimated $130,623 according to the Council of State Governments.
