The Wyoming Auditor of State is a state executive position in the Wyoming state government.[1] The Wyoming Department of Audit was created as part of the reorganization and commenced operations on July 1, 1989.[2]

Article 20, Section 03:

9-2-2003. Department of audit created; director appointed; structure; authority; reporting.
(a) As part of the reorganization of Wyoming state government, there is created a department of audit consisting of the agencies, programs and functions specified in this section.

Duties

The Department of Audit is responsible for the regulation of financial institutions, including auditing public agencies and local governments. The department is also responsible for conducting audits for the collection of federal and state mineral royalties, state mineral and excise taxes, and for coordinating auditing and other revenue matters.[2]
