18 applicants for seat on Iowa Court of Appeals
August 8, 2009
Iowa: So far, 18 applications have been received for the vacancy created on the Iowa Court of Appeals created after judges Robert Mahan and John Miller retired. The Governor has decided that one of those seats will remain vacant until June 30, 2010, in order to save money.[1]
Five of the applicants are current Iowa District judges; the rest are attorneys and/or other state employees. They will be vetted by the Iowa Judicial Nominating Commission, who will make three recommendations to Governor Culver, who will then choose one for the appointment.[2]
