2012 elections review: Big defeats for two incumbents in OR legislative primaries

Last night, Oregon held legislative and congressional primary elections. A total of five congressional and 74 legislative seats are up for election in 2012.

Congress
All of Oregon's five incumbents advanced past the primaries to the November 6 general election.
Incumbents Suzanne Bonamici, Greg Walden, Earl Blumenauer, and Kurt Schrader all ran unopposed in their primaries, while Peter DeFazio, the only incumbent facing a contested primary, defeated challenger Matthew L. Robinson in the 4th District Democratic primary.
Democratic incumbent Suzanne Bonamici will face Republican challenger Delinda Morgan in the 1st District general election. Morgan narrowly defeated Lisa Michaels in the Republican primary.
Republican incumbent Greg Walden will face Joyce Segers in the 2nd District. Segers defeated John Sweeney in the 2nd District Democratic primary.
Democratic incumbent Earl Blumenauer from the 3rd District will face Ronald Green in the general election. Green defeated Delia Lopez for the Republican nomination.
Republican candidate Art Robinson ran unopposed in the primary, and will go on to face Democratic incumbent Peter DeFazio in the District 4 general election.
Candidate Fred Thompson defeated Karen Bowerman in the 5th District Republican primary, advancing him to the general election where he will face Democratic incumbent Kurt Schrader in November.

State legislatures
Senate
Of the 11 Oregon State Senate incumbents running for re-election, one was defeated. Incumbent Chris Telfer (R) was defeated by challenger Tim Knopp in the District 27 Republican primary. Knopp captured 68.4% of the vote. He will face Geri Hauser (D) in the general election.[1]
Of the 10 incumbents proceeding to the general election, five face no general election opponent. One of those five did face a primary opponent.

House
Of the 53 Oregon House incumbents running for re-election, one was defeated. Incumbent Michael Schaufler (D) was defeated by challenger Jeff Reardon in the District 48 Democratic primary. Knopp captured 65.9% of the vote. He will face George Yellott (R) in the general election.[2]
Of the 52 incumbents proceeding to the general election, 11 face no general election opponent. Of those eleven, none faced a primary opponent.
