Kenney was defeated by Mike McDermott and Marty Pusey in the September 14 Republican primary. Norman Conway (D) and McDermott defeated Gee Williams (D) and Pusey.
- Note: Incumbent James Mathias, Jr. (D) did not seek re-election but instead ran for the District 38 senate seat.[1]
