A. Reece Pyrtle, Jr. (Republican Party) (also known as Reece) is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 65. He assumed office on August 18, 2021. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Pyrtle (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 65. He is on the ballot in the Republican primary on March 3, 2026.[source]
The Rockingham County Republican Party appointed Pyrtle to replace former Rep. Jerry Carter (R), who died on August 3, 2021, from complications after surgery.
Biography
A. Reece Pyrtle, Jr. earned a high school diploma from Morehead High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 1989. His career experience includes working as a law enforcement officer.[1]

Reece joined the Eden Police Department in May 1990 and has held a variety of positions over the years. On March 2, 2009, he was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Eden. Reece retired as the Chief of Police from the Eden Police Department in January 2018.
Reece was elected Commissioner for Rockingham County on November 8, 2016. Following the untimely passing of state Rep. Jerry Carter, Reece was appointed to serve in the North Carolina General Assembly as the Representative from Rockingham County.
Reece is married to Valerie, an educator, and they have one daughter - Ainsley. Reece is a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church. When not working, Reece enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.- Defend constitutional Freedom and Liberty.
