|- I am running to represent our district and our values, which I don't believe are being represented in Frankfort.
- I'm running for a better education system that empowers parents, students, and teachers to make the best decisions for themselves and their classrooms.
- I oppose job-killing tax-hikes that take money out of the pockets of hard-working families.
I am also passionate about addressing the pension crisis facing Kentucky. It is not a particularly fun issue, and it's going to be painful, but we cannot allow the problem to continue to be kicked down the road to future generations.
In the Kentucky legislature, I can name many more that I look up to and admire. Senator Thayer is a great example of somebody who has maintained his principles even in leadership. Representative Maddox has also made a name for herself as a principled conservative and leader. The same could be said for Representative Stan Lee and many others.
However, I have experienced situations in which new members have found themselves in an uncomfortable position because of oversight in bill drafting or them signing onto unpopular legislation that was given to them by a constituent, family member, lobbyist or group.
Even if you were to bond it out at a low-interest rate, you are still left with annual payments being one of the largest single items on the entire state budget. That's not even addressing the pension moving forward.
