One of the five seats on the Seminole County Public Schools school board was up for primary election on August 30, 2016. In her bid for re-election, District 3 incumbent Dede Schaffner lost to challenger Abby Sanchez. The seat of District 4 incumbent Amy Lockhart was set to be on the ballot in 2016, but she filed for re-election unopposed. Her name did not appear on the ballot, and she was automatically re-elected to an additional term.[1][2]
