|I was born in Scotts Valley, California and raised in Eugene, Oregon to a single mother who migrated to the United States from South America. My father is indigenous to Peru. The struggles we, my sisters, my mother, and I overcame as Latina women inspired me to pursue a lifelong career in public service.
At the age of 19, I moved to New York City to pursue a degree in Liberal Arts at Borough of Manhattan Community College - City University of New York (CUNY), my degree in Political Science and Urban Affairs at Hunter College-CUNY, where I self-financed her education by teaching gymnastics at 74th Street MAGIC. As a college student, I worked for the Urban Justice Center’s Human Rights Project and was a Public Service Scholar for New York State Senator Liz Krueger (D-NY-28), where I developed a passion for working on behalf of those grappling with poverty and food insecurity. Thus began a 25-year career in politics and advocacy focused on empowering marginalized and underrepresented communities, including work on the campaigns to elect Stacey Abrams and Reverend Raphael Warnock here in Georgia as well as Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren nationally.
I am a lifelong Democrat.- That I have experience on both the organizing and the policy side to be an effective member of the legislature.
- I am passionate and care about being a voice for the unrepresented.
- I want to meet the voter where they are.
