I am currently serving as a Police Officer and I have been in law enforcement for 10 years. I am an elected Trustee of Reed Township in southwestern Will County, and I have served the City of Braidwood as City Clerk. Outside of my profession I am a father to two girls, Kennedy and Reagan, and I am a small business owner specializing in headstone and monument restoration and preservation.

I am seeking the office of Illinois State Representative for District 80 as a Republican.

I believe I am a candidate that can work well with either side of the aisle to get the best results for my constituency and the State of Illinois. I will be tough on crime by empowering law enforcement and working to create incentives to recruit and retain police within our communities. I will work to improve education by working with school districts and school boards to encourage greater parental participation when deciding on the curriculum in our classrooms. I will work with my colleagues within the legislature to improve Illinois, to entice people to make Illinois home, and encourage American businesses to come to and anchor in Illinois.

Illinois, I believe, is a beautiful state with so much potential. We need to unlock that potential by renewing the State Legislature and electing the next generation of leaders. I want to be that impassioned and confident voice our state needs in Springfield.
  • "The first step to getting anywhere is deciding you're no longer willing to stay where you are." So many people and businesses have lost faith in Illinois and thousands have left this State behind. I believe Illinoisans are no longer willing to see Illinois go down the path it is on. I believe a new generation of leaders endeavoring toward results rather than lengthy terms is key to breathing new life into Illinois.
  • "Society prepares the crime; the criminal commits it." - Henry Thomas Buckle. Illinois has become a key example for crime It is policy and/or the lack of enforcement thereof that has caused the criminal mind to become empowered. Throughout the state we have seen property crimes and crimes against persons sky rocket. Businesses are leaving and the most mundane of items now must be kept under lock and key for businesses to provide the goods we seek. This is wrong. We need common sense crime prevention. Policies like the SAFE-T act have hurt Illinois. We need law and order. We need energetic police officers who are treated fairly and retained/rewarded on merit. Finally, we need to get to the root causes that inspire the criminal mind.
  • Education, especially higher, has become a hostage of the dollar and ideas and values forced rather than understood. Parents should be at the center of their children’s education. Parents should guide the curriculum through their local school boards, not a politician with a pen and an agenda. Community colleges and vocational schools should be more accessible. We need to value our educators more and incentivize those who endeavor to teach. I’m reminded of a quote by a Scottish poet sharing a variation of my name, “The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think than what to think—rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with the thoughts of other men.” – James Beattie
Aside from the areas I've mentioned in my key messages, I am particularly enthusiastic about term limits and transparency. When elected, I want my constituency to be knowledgeable and involved in my activities in Springfield. When I'm not in session, I intend to be in my district actively listening to the concerns of the people. I will host town halls and bring important issues to the table to be discussed. I will be accessible to those I represent. On term limits, I believe in a strong work ethic. I understand that I will have been hired by the people to do a job. I will do that job to the best of my ability. I believe my public service legacy will and should be measured by the results I attain on behalf of the people rather than in how long I've held the office. However, for now, I am excited at the prospect to serve. I believe I am a candidate that shares a lot common values, therefore I am eager to be the next Representative for the 80th District.
