I am a proud product of NC public schools. I grew up here graduating from West Forsyth (Class of 2001) before heading off to UNC at Chapel Hill. There I came to appreciate the power and opportunity of education. After earning my Bachelor’s in Biology and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), I came back home to teach science and coach football/wrestling in this district at East Forsyth (5 years) and Reagan (2 years). While I would leave again for UNC to become a pharmacist, I came back to this area so that my 4 kids can also learn in this great school system.

I am running because strong public schools need empowered teachers, real discipline, and opportunities that inspire kids. Our community depends on it and our local businesses depend on it. I plan to bring steady leadership, practical solutions, and a commitment to the students and teachers who make this system work.

My experience as a teacher helps me understand the front lines of education and my life as a father helps me understand the impact on these amazing students. My time as a pharmacist helps me find solutions that work based on available evidence and find cost-effective solutions. I plan to bring steady leadership that engages with staff and the community to improve our academic performance while providing open oversight of our financial situation.
  • Strong schools need great teachers empowered to do their jobs. We must respect their professionalism and expertise. I support protecting planning time, ensuring reliable substitute coverage, compensating extra duties, and providing a clear, enforceable code of conduct so teachers can lead their classrooms with confidence. We should give teachers a voice in the conversation on issues before the board, and follow through with what they need in the classroom. We can reduce teacher burnout by improving their working conditions and help educators stay in the profession. Supporting teachers is essential to improving student outcomes and retaining high quality staff.
  • A clear and enforceable code of conduct is essential for learning and safety. Kids are kids and misbehavior will happen, but classrooms cannot function when disruptions go unchecked. Fair and consistent consequences protect the right of every student to learn and every teacher to teach. Discipline should be applied equally, documented clearly, and focused on restoring order so instruction can continue. A safe, structured environment benefits all students, especially those who come to school ready to learn. Discipline is not about being harsh. It is about fairness, safety, and giving every child the chance to succeed.
  • Former Governor Jim Hunt said it best. “"Education is the great equalizer. It's the ticket to opportunity for every child, regardless of their circumstances”. That's still true today, as public education remains our most important economic development issue.

A strong, stable schools system, attracts families and businesses to the area, who can count to our graduates being hardworking employees or aspiring entrepreneurs.

Strong public schools prepare students for life in the community, strengthen our workforce, and create resilient local economies. My priorities will be keeping classrooms safe learning environments, supporting our amazing teachers, and ensuring public education remains the foundation of our community’s future.
