I’m a parent who wants the school system to maximize the potential future opportunities for all students in the public school system.
  • Elementary students are our future. Our future work force, our future candidates, our future parents, our future first responders. They need to be cherished and nurtured to help produce the best possible living environment for our country.
  • Politics need to stay out of the classroom and curriculum, they’re counter productive to a safe learning environment, and the state legislature has already outlawed them, so they shouldn’t be there in the first place.
  • We need to rebuild trust and mutual respect in our community, I plan on activating as many extra curricular activities as practical and possible to help the community come together, with common interests and support our children in their future endeavors.
Accountability and transparency. There are far too many closed doors and behind the scenes actions taking place in our state, and on our dime, that needs to cease immediately. If you have to hide what you’re doing from the public, while your representing the public, from a school board position, then you probably shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.
As a country and society, I feel we’ve had so many disappointments in role models that I choose to look at everyone equally, know that everyone is capable of error and mis judgement, and try to find the best traits to attach to you’re own personality. I feel we should look to Fredrick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln when trying to find perspective on how to interact, acknowledge, and respect each other. They supported each other, and evolved each other. Neither would have been as influential and inspiring without the others support, criticism and willingness to listen.
The one I’m writing right now should suffice, any additional resources needed for perspective on my stances can be addressed to me directly at AdamALaRosa.com or AdamALaRosa@outlook.com
I’m a parent of 4 children, and want nothing but the best made available for them and their peers.
An unrelenting desire for the students in their district to achieve levels of success not currently thought possible.
To have supported the development of the next generation of Musk, Einstein, Tesla, Davinci, or Mozart.
The challenger space shuttle explosion bringing the teacher Christa McAuliffe to space. I was 5 years old at the time and remember my teacher talking about it in class.
Mowing and maintaining my neighbors lawns/yards when I was a child. I did it for approximately 4 years on the weekends for extra money.
Life is a constant struggle for anyone who embraces it, adapt and overcome respectfully.
To direct the Superintendent and cabinet to enforce the rules and policies of the board in accordance with the state legislation that governs them.
Southeast Las Vegas, and Northern Henderson
Through transparency, accountability and education when needed. Although most of the issues that are taking place in Clark County school districts right now, are a result of complete failure and incompetence from several board members, not all of it is, so for the few incidents that are not, educating the public on the legislature that is holding the board back from debating, writing and establishing effective policies, to the benefit of the public will be necessary.
Children's education is so imperative that there isn’t a public or private sector that won’t benefit from raising the standards, and ensuring that all children get the best possible education provided to them for the foreseeable future.
No, forced diversity is a violation of the 14th amendment to the U.S. constitution, diversity in faculty, staff and administration should be natural in contemporary society. The best person for the job should be the only prerequisite for employment around our communities children.
The biggest issue in the way of quality education is politics, every board member has run as a non partisan, so why are so many partisan policies influencing our curriculums? Secondly, we need to reinstate phonetic reading, arithmetic, fundamental writing, and science. I believe in teaching children about the experiment that is the US government, and how close we are to losing the freedoms afforded to us by this experiment. How historical resources of past were utilized to influence the current governments ability to be for, to and by the citizens it protected, and why we should defend our inalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness at all costs.
I believe good teaching can be done through triggering students inquisitive nature and gaining their attention through their imagination. Any teacher that can keep a child hanging on what they’ll say next, will have an effective class full of growth. I plan on measuring this through pre semester testing and end of year testing , I plan on abolishing the racial and social demographic collecting currently conducted in the county through programs like MAP and SBAC and replacing it completely with programs that will place children in the best possible positions to succeed in life.
I would like to see a K-6 program that focuses on the exclusive development of the fundamentals of reading, writing, arithmetic, science and history so that students can graduate from elementary learning as early as possible and start higher level accredited learning and vocational training before graduating/completing 12th grade. Ideally offering them college courses and skilled training as early as 6th grade for students capable of handling it, to ensure youth debt (college debt) is hindered as much as practical while under the umbrella of the K-12 program. I believe parents/guardians would be paramount in successfully instituting programs that would maximize student growth throughout the county.
I would be keeping close dialogue with the state legislators to establish a percentage based dividend of the current tax structure to facilitate a no strings policy for funding our educational programs throughout the state. I believe we need a comprehensive tax structure to keep federal policies and politics out of our classrooms.
Supporting our legislation, and a fundamental teaching to all students that actions have consequences, that you should not aspire to control the person next to you, but to know that you can be held accountable for the actions you partake in.
The current Nevada state statutes institute the availability of mental health professionals within the districts. Why have them, if they can not be utilized by the students and the staff?
The ever evolving technological environment we currently live in should be utilized to the furthest extent in promoting transparency, accountability and safety to our citizenry, not as a distraction to our students. Too much technology has the unintended effect of watering down fundamental principles in curriculums and as such shouldn’t be overly exploited in the curriculums. In short, technology needs to be used responsibly and ethically to promote a safe learning environment.
The word “pandemic” has been utilized as an authoritarian control in modern society, every time a politician uses that word, the citizens ears should perk up to find out what freedoms their about to attempt to take from you.
As stated before, we need to rebuild our community and respect for one another, I believe, and have experienced this type of mutual respect through kids sports/arts programs. Bringing parents/adults together around common interests, is any easy way to meet new lasting friends in the community, it builds debate on many public policy without causing the division that is so prevalent in modern society as a result of differing opinion.
