I’ve lived in Oldham County since 2004 after getting married to my wife Abbie. We moved here because I wanted to teach in one of the best school districts in the state and we eventually wanted to raise a family here. We have been blessed with three amazing children, our daughter a recent high school graduate of OCHS in 2024 and our two boys who still attend Oldham County schools. I worked in the county as a teacher for 18 years, 12 years at Oldham County High School and then 6 years at Centerfield Elementary. In 2022, I left the district to teach in a different school system.
  • 1. Improving Educational Outcomes: As an educator, I am deeply committed to ensuring that every student in our district has access to a high-quality education. This means addressing learning gaps, enhancing curricula, and providing the necessary resources to support all learners, regardless of their background. By advocating for innovative teaching practices and ensuring that schools are equipped to meet the needs of every student, we can raise academic achievement across the board.
  • 2. Supporting Teachers and Staff: Our teachers and school staff are the backbone of our educational system. I believe in the importance of recruiting, retaining, and supporting the best educators. This includes advocating for competitive salaries, ongoing professional development, and creating a positive, supportive environment where teachers feel valued. By investing in our educators, we invest in the success of our students.
  • 3. Fostering Open Communication and Transparency: I am committed to being a strong advocate for transparency and communication within our school district. It’s crucial that parents and families have a voice in decision-making processes and that the community remains informed about the policies affecting our schools. By encouraging open dialogue and listening to the concerns of all stakeholders, I will ensure that our district remains accountable and responsive to the needs of our students and families.
Though there are many, I currently believe staff and teacher recruitment, as well as, retention are very important. Highly qualified and motivated teachers directly impact student achievement. Recruiting skilled educators ensures students receive quality instruction, which will lead to better outcomes. Retention and morale is important because when teachers feel valued they are more likely to remain in our county, reducing turnover and fostering stability within schools. Stability allows for stronger relationships between teachers, students, and parents, and contributes to a positive learning environment. By focusing on attracting and retaining teachers and staff, our county will create an environment where students thrive.
First job was working for a local farmer at age 13. Continued to work and help out until I moved away from home.
