Adam Thomas Medeiros completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2022. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Medeiros' responses. Candidates are asked three required questions for this survey, but they may answer additional optional questions as well.
I am a family man, businessman, and public servant. I immigrated from the Azores Islands of Portugal when I was a child and grew up on a dairy farm where my father milked cows. My wife and I have been married for nearly 40 years and we have three grown children and seven grandchildren (with one more on the way). As a small business owner, I am self-employed and own and operate a salon in Hanford. I served on a local school board for many years and in 2018, was elected to the Kings County Board of Education, where I currently serve as Vice President. I have been an active member in my community and have been involved in youth ministry and prison ministry, and have coached youth soccer, football, and basketball. I am a Christian conservative and feel that I can represent the farms, families, and businesses in this district and want to do my part to ensure a stable country for our future generations.
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. I support the Constitution, civil liberties, and law and order.
Water and Energy. We must ensure proper water storage and allocation, and as a nation become more energy independent.
Parent's Rights. Parents (not the Government) are responsible for the upbringing of their children. Parents must be allowed to protect their children's health and education and I support the School Choice Initiative.
Currently, we are seeing an emerging trend of communist and socialist agendas growing in our country. We are a free nation and We the People must keep the government accountable to uphold our Constitutional rights. I am passionate about helping Congress restore the ground we have lost and will fight for increased civil liberties and decreased government mandates.
I look up to my father-in-law, RADM Glen W Lenox. I have seen his example of integrity in life as a Christian leader, successful businessman, and solid family man. His example is one I try to emulate in my life.
I would like to leave a legacy as a man who has sought God's will in all that he did, and that I loved my family and worked hard to take care of the people around me.
A historical event that I still remember well is my own. It was when my family and I became US citizens. I was seven years old and stood with my family in front of the judge in Fresno and answered his questions. We all felt like celebrities and I was proud to see our picture in the newspaper the next day.
I would be happy to serve on any committee where my gifts and talents would be best suited. If given the opportunity, I would be interested in being part of Homeland Security. As an immigrant myself, I can appreciate the desire of those who want to come to this country, however, it must be done legally. Our borders must be protected and our current border crisis must be corrected.
A compromise should be part of the process of policymaking, but there must be times when one must stand firm on moral principles.

I immigrated from the Azores Islands in 1963 and grew up around dairy farms where my father was a milker. I own and operate a hair salon. Having owned my business for 40 years, I have learned the value of hard work and dedication and the importance of balancing a budget. I have served as a board member for several boards over the past 28 years and am currently serving as Vice President on the Kings County Board of Education. I have been married for 39 years and have three grown children and seven grandchildren. I have been an active member in my community and have been involved in youth ministry, prison ministry, and have coached football, basketball, and soccer youth programs.
I consider myself a Christian conservative and feel that I can represent the farms, families, and businesses in this district and want to do my part to ensure a stable country for the upcoming generations.
Water. I will do everything in my power to ensure the proper allocation of water to our valley. We have the power and ability to stop the high-speed rail construction until we acquire approval for dam storage.
Education. I have seen firsthand the need for education reform. The foundations of the U.S. Constitution must once again be taught in our schools. There needs to be a greater emphasis on the proficiency of core subjects and truly leaving no child behind instead of using a nice slogan while leaving children behind.
Law Enforcement. We must encourage our local city and state governments to empower our law enforcement officers to do their jobs and do them well.
Currently, we are seeing an emerging trend of communist and socialist agendas growing in our great state of California. The downward spiral of self-sabotage must be stopped. We are a free nation and We the People must keep the government accountable to uphold our Constitutional rights. I am passionate about helping Congress restore the ground we have lost and will fight for the freedom of this great nation.

We have had several close friends (some whose families date back to the Donner Party) who have left California due to the current political climate and economic challenges of our state. It is sad for me to see them go, but I am encouraged to see the sacrifice that families are willing to make to protect their livelihood and quality of life for their children.
It would play a major role. We must control how the revenue is spent and must discipline ourselves to spend less than we bring in.
