Our continued existence depends on having a healthy planet to live on. I have been advocating for development of solar, protection of farmland, and clean air and water through my engagement with groups like NRCM and also by working toward re-purposing Augusta's former St Mark's Episcopal Church, a Gothic Revival gem, into an arts and cultural community center that will help raise awareness for climate and habitat issues, and will encourage people to engage their legislators to create good policy.

As well as being an environmentalist, I am a business owner. I have many bills to pay and tight margins in my work with carpentry and apartment building management. I have first-hand experience investing in green infrastructure. From the 9 air source heat pumps that I have installed in different locations in central Maine to the 8 kilowatt hour solar array I have installed on my own home here in Augusta, I am saving money and building my business by investing in new green technology. Maine can also move forward in this way, catching up to our neighboring New England states by investing in solar and wind infrastructure and by increasing efficiencies at work and at home.

  • Our elders must be respected. Social Security should be 100% funded.
  • Healthcare is a basic human right. No one should lose everything they have because of illness.
  • Our planet is home to all of us, protecting it is vital to all living things.
One thing I am passionate about is conservation. I believe that healthy air and water and a balanced interaction with our world is a foundation from which all other human activity is built from. We should always be aware of how one issue effects another. Policy decisions we make have far reaching implications that effect all other aspects of policy. We need to always be considering the whole picture when making decisions.
