Aida Delgado-Colon is a federal judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Delgado-Colon joined the court in March 2006 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Delgado-Colon became the chief judge on April 14, 2011.[1] She served in this position until 2018.[2]
Education
Delgado-Colon graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with her bachelor's degree in 1977 and later graduated from Catholic University of Puerto Rico with her J.D. degree in 1980.[3]

- 1988-1993: First assistant federal public defender
- 1991: Acting federal public defender for the District of Puerto Rico
- 1982-1988: Assistant federal public defender for the District of Puerto Rico
- 1981-1982: Director of research and investigations, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
- 1980-1981: Legal investigator, Department of Labor and Human Resources [3]
Judicial career
District of Puerto Rico
On the recommendation of the Puerto Rican at-large Congressional delegation, Delgado-Colon was nominated by George W. Bush on October 25, 2005, to a seat vacated when Salvador Casellas assumed senior status. Delgado-Colon was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 6, 2006, on unanimous consent of the Senate and received commission on March 17, 2006.[4] She became the chief judge of the court on April 14, 2011, and served in this position until 2018.[1][2]
District of Puerto Rico, magistrate
Delgado-Colon began her judicial career as a federal magistrate judge for the District of Puerto Rico. Delgado-Colon was appointed to an eight-year term in 1993 and was re-appointed to another term in 2001. She served in that role until becoming an Article III judge in 2006.[3]
