I received a bachelor's degree in business from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and a law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law. I have been a practicing attorney since 2003 and currently work as Senior Counsel for Travelers Staff Counsel.

As a 13 year resident of Fishers, I have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to service in my local community. In addition to currently serving as President of the Sagamore Inn of Court, I have also spent countless hours volunteering for various school-related boards in Fishers, including Fishers High School Gridiron, Hamilton Southeastern Youth and FHS Rugby, as well as serving as a volunteer coach for the Fishers Knights cheer squad. I served as the assistant treasurer for HSE Lacrosse and am currently on the FHS Lacrosse Board and the Fishers Tiger One Treasurer. I have also volunteered as a presenter at the Fall Creek Junior High Career Day and Fishers High School Student Choice Day.

I live in Fishers with my husband, Randy Cole. Our son is a student at Franklin College and our daughter attends Fishers High school. We belong to Holy Spirit Parish at Geist.
  • I'm committed to public education. For too long we've watched this Supermajority degrade our state's public education system. Funding has been diverted away from public schools, costly and senseless standardized testing continues to limit real learning, and hardworking teachers are told to wait, again, for the pay they deserve. We're struggling to provide clear guidance about reopening schools. What could be more important right now? I will work to return funding and local control to our public schools so that they can best serve students.
  • I'm committed to common-sense gun safety. Hoosier families, including many responsible gun owners, are tired of waiting for the Supermajority to adopt basic gun safety laws, such as background checks and responsible gun storage laws. I will draw on my experiences working with law enforcement to advocate for these important safety measures in the Statehouse.
  • I am committed to building a diverse, equal, and inclusive community to all Hoosiers, no matter how they identify. Working with law enforcement officials for nearly two decades, I believe that the vast majority want to do right by residents. However, even one abuse of power, one misuse of force is one too many. Having conversations, learning from those with diverse backgrounds, and supporting equity efforts are important first steps toward making lasting change. The next step is to address our challenges head on, with courage, determination, and humility.A key step forward is electing more public officials that reflect the diverse communities they represent.

Integrity is the most important characteristic of a public official. Other important attributes would be optimism, courage, empathy, humility, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.[
The first historical event that I remember was the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I was 10 years old.

Candidate Connection

Aimee Rivera Cole participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 6, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Aimee Rivera Cole's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Public Schools

2) Economy
3) Environment[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Fully funding our public schools should be one of, if not the top priority in Indiana. Like most, I want our children to receive the best education possible. Public schools should allow all students the opportunity to achieve their best. However, for many years now public schools in Indiana have been underfunded and education policy making has been a mess. Salaries for teachers statewide are stagnant and school districts continue to have a shortage of teachers. Public school teachers need to be fairly compensated for the important work they do and they need to be allowed to teach without the pressure of high stakes testing. Otherwise, it’s our children who end up being deprived because passionate and talented people won’t chose to become public educators. Indiana also needs to work to improve its reputation for hospitality, diversity, and freedom from discrimination by passing common sense legislation like the Hate Crime bill and working to close the gender pay gap. This is important because everyone has the human right to freedom from discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other status. Additionally, assuring that Indiana will protect its citizens’ rights is necessary for Indiana businesses to compete in a global economy, to attract new businesses, and to attract quality talent.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Aimee Rivera Cole answered the following:

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity is the most important characteristic of a public official. Other important attributes would be optimism, courage, empathy, humility, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.[4]
