I’m running for Battle Ground City Council because I love this city with all of my heart. When my husband and I first moved here, Battle Ground truly embodied the small-town values we cherish—safety, neighborly kindness, and a shared sense of community. But in recent years, those qualities have been overshadowed by rapid, poorly managed growth. Our roads are overburdened, schools overcrowded, and residents increasingly concerned about safety and affordability.

I believe these issues cannot be solved by the same voices that created or allowed them to continue. Battle Ground needs new leadership with the courage to stand up for residents, advocate for responsible development, and make decisions that put our community—not outside developers or special interests—first. I’m running to restore accountability, transparency, and balance to our city government.

I bring a diverse background in leadership, fiscal responsibility, and community service. I currently serve as Vice Chair of a local civic organization, Executive Secretary of the 18th Legislative District Caucus, and previously served as Executive Secretary of Partners in Education in Battle Ground. I also served on the Climate Policy Advisory Team for the City of Battle Ground, am the Washington State Ambassador for OUR Rescue.
  • Our residents’ top concerns are clear—traffic safety, responsible growth, and restoring trust in local government

    A) Traffic & Infrastructure: Battle Ground’s roads are over capacity and increasingly unsafe. I will prioritize replacing outdated traffic signals, implementing left-turn arrows, and improving traffic flow near schools and neighborhoods. I’ll also work to secure state and federal grants so we can fund improvements without burdening local taxpayers.

    B) Growth Management: I strongly oppose allowing high-density apartment complexes to rise without the proper infrastructure to support them. The idea of waiving impact fees for large developers while passing costs on to hardworking families is unacceptable.
  • C) Community Development: I’m committed to the revitalization and walkability of Old Town Battle Ground, supporting locally owned small businesses, and expanding our parks, trails, and green spaces. I strongly support the creation of a community pool—a much-needed amenity that promotes wellness and togetherness.
  • D) Public Safety: I fully support our local police and fire departments and will advocate for the resources they need to protect our city. And most importantly, I promise never to vote for tax increases on families already struggling with rising costs.
I’m passionate about expanding Battle Ground’s parks, green spaces, and family recreation opportunities. I strongly support developing a community pool and recreation center that provide year-round activities for youth, families, and seniors. Parks and recreation aren’t luxuries—they’re essential to our city’s well-being. By improving trails, playgrounds, and public spaces through responsible planning and partnerships, we can preserve Battle Ground’s small-town charm while strengthening community connection for generations to come.
The Battle Ground City Council holds a unique and vital role within our system of local government because it is the closest level of representation to the people. Councilmembers directly shape the policies, budgets, and development decisions that impact residents’ daily lives—from road safety and zoning to parks, utilities, and public safety services. Unlike higher levels of government, city councilmembers work face-to-face with the community, ensuring local voices are heard and reflected in every decision. This office is essential because it combines grassroots accountability with real policy impact, giving residents a direct say in how their city grows, spends, and serves.
Integrity, transparency, and accountability are the most important qualities of an elected official. Leaders must serve with honesty, listen to their constituents, and make decisions based on what’s best for the community—not personal or political gain. I also believe in humility and accessibility; elected officials should be approachable, open to feedback, and willing to admit when change is needed. Above all, good leadership means keeping your word, acting with moral character, and maintaining fiscal responsibility while protecting the trust of the people you represent.
The core responsibilities of a Battle Ground City Councilmember are to represent the people with honesty, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. This includes making informed policy decisions, prioritizing public safety and infrastructure, and ensuring that growth is managed responsibly so our roads, schools, and utilities can support our community. Councilmembers must also listen to residents, bring their voices to the table, and foster collaboration between the city, local businesses, and families. Above all, the role requires stewardship—protecting Battle Ground’s resources, values, and small-town character for future generations.
Yes — many residents don’t realize how much authority the City Council holds over the direction and character of our community. The Council has the power to approve or deny development projects, set zoning regulations, and decide how taxpayer dollars are allocated through the city budget. These decisions directly impact traffic congestion, school crowding, public safety, and even property values. The Council also appoints members to key boards and commissions, influencing long-term planning, parks, and infrastructure priorities. In short, the City Council doesn’t just implement policy—it shapes the future of Battle Ground, and residents deserve leaders who take that responsibility seriously and act with transparency and accountability.
Previous government experience can certainly be helpful, but it’s not the only path to being an effective councilmember. What matters most is real-world experience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the community. Understanding how to manage budgets, communicate professionally, solve problems, and bring people together are all essential skills that often come from outside of politics. In fact, fresh perspectives can lead to better decision-making and more balanced representation. I believe the City Council benefits from having members with diverse backgrounds—residents, parents, business owners, and volunteers—who understand firsthand the challenges our community faces and are willing to serve with honesty, transparency, and common sense.
Aimee Vaile’s campaign has earned endorsements from four Battle Ground City Councilmembers—Eric Overholser, Tricia Davis, Victoria Ferrer, and former Councilmember Shauna Walters—along with 18th Legislative District Representative John Ley, Senate candidates Brad Benton and Isaac Holyk, and numerous local community leaders, business owners, and residents.
One accomplishment I’m truly proud of is my work as a coach and mentor to the youth of Battle Ground through Clark County Youth Football (CCYF) and Battle Ground Little League (BGLL). There’s a particular memory that stands out: coaching a young football player who believed he couldn’t catch or throw. With patience, encouragement, and teamwork, I helped him build the confidence to not only master those skills but also take pride in his growth. Seeing him light up with self-belief was a moment I’ll never forget.

This work reflects my heart for our community’s kids—creating safe, supportive spaces where they can thrive. As a mom, educator, and volunteer, empowering the next generation to feel capable and valued is an achievement that fuels my passion for serving Battle Ground on the City Council.
