Hi. I'm Aiya Kravi and I am running for Lake Washington School District Board, with three kids in the district (elementary, middle school and high school).

I have always been an active member of my community with the understanding that change can be made through being involved. I believe every student deserves a public education that honors their individuality and equips them with the tools to pursue a fulfilling future.

As a parent of multilingual children who’ve experienced the transition of immigrating, I value the support our schools provide and I understand some of the challenges multilingual students face.

With that unique point of view, I will bring to the Lake Washington School District Board my experience as a Career Consultant, as a PTSA Board member and as someone who has worked with diverse teams throughout my career in the public and private sector, together with my listening and learning skills.
  • Every student deserves a public education that honors their individuality and equips them with the tools to pursue a fulfilling future
  • Lake Washington School District is a diverse community with over 100 languages and customs. A big part of the district is multilingual students and families and that should be a point of view that is better represented at the board level.
  • Change is made through caring and through being involved in our close community. Both are essential to building a strong community with a direct and positive impact on its members. And together with education and building the future, it has always been my passion. I am dedicated to building a stronger community.
I will focus on students' wellbeing, whether physical or mental health, with three top priorities:

- Healthier food options during school
- More accessible after school athletics and clubs - overcoming barriers of language, cost, transportation, gender and special needs
- Diverse paths to success in higher education - My experience in career counseling provides insight into helping individuals navigate their next steps. We should help students discover paths that reflect their strengths, and guide parents in supporting their kids

By focusing on nutrition, inclusive activities, and diverse paths to success, we can ensure that students in our district have the tools to achieve success as they define it.
Barista at a high traffic coffee shop for three years while I was in college. Learned all the basics of work ethics, working as part of a team, working under stress while committed to performance (see what happens if someone's coffee it too hot or not hot enough...), learning to listen to people and address their requests.
The primary job of a school board member is to set policies and strategies for the district and monitor them. The Board should work closely with the Super Intendent and their team to ensure our students get the best public education and to prepare them for their future and for being an independent adult and a contributing member of their community.
Organizations:

National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington
Democrats for Diversity and Inclusion (DDI)
Washingtonians for a Brighter Future

and about 50 community members from across the district
