Akron City Charter Amendments, 6 (November 2010)

Six Akron City Charter Amendment measures were on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the city of Akron, which is in Summit County.

The proposed changes included decreasing the number of signatures needed to get a petition approved, changing finance reform laws and giving veterans job preference in some industries. Charter changes were mostly approved unanimously, but others like the signature amount led to heated debate between members.[1] Opponents to the amendments saw each one as a means for the city to further a selfish agenda which does not benefit anyone. While city officials noted that each amendment was a needed change to the charter.[2]
