Al Austin (California)
Al Austin was a member of the Long Beach City Council in California, representing District 8. He assumed office on July 17, 2012. He left office on December 17, 2024.
Austin (Democratic Party) ran for election to the California State Assembly to represent District 69. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Austin's professional experience includes working as a staff representative for American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), a district field representative for state Sen. Kevin Murray, and an aerospace worker at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing).[1]

The city of Long Beach, California, held primary elections for city council on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on June 7, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 15, 2016. Four of the eight city council seats were up for election.[2] Incumbent Al Austin defeated Wesley Turnbow and Laurie Angel in the Long Beach City Council District 8 primary election.[3]
