The city of Long Beach, California, held primary elections for city council on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on June 7, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 15, 2016. Four of the eight city council seats were up for election.[2] Incumbent Al Austin defeated Wesley Turnbow and Laurie Angel in the Long Beach City Council District 8 primary election.[3]
