  • Voter ID. Many states already require voter ID, Nevada should as well. This will help all voters to trust election results. We should also ban ballot harvesting and limit mail in voting to true absentee ballots.
  • School choice. Nevada ranks near the bottom of state K-12 education rankings. Our children deserve better. The system is broken. Competition is a powerful force that elicits the best from athletes and businesses. We should introduce competition in education to improve all schools. More charter schools. Money should follow the pupil.
  • Fight crime by supporting the police. Defunding the police was always a very bad idea.
I am passionate about traditional American values that made America the greatest in world history. I am concerned that the progressive left has taken over the Democrat Party. Moderates seem to be fearful of the left and do little or nothing to oppose them (exceptions - Manchin and to a lesser extent Sinema). I believe many of these policies are harmful to Nevada and America. As one Assemblyman has said, "There is no Joe Manchin in the Nevada Assembly." Some of the legislation that was passed in the last session by the Democratic majority is quite harmful to the future of Nevada, include permanent mail-in balloting and ballot harvesting, an unworkable healthcare plan and increased taxes on mining. There was also a failure to address one of Nevada's biggest problems - the K-12 education system.
I admire President Ronald Reagan. He was a true inspirational leader - the "Great Communicator." He became President when many were very despondent over America's future - recession, high inflation, hostages in Iran after a failed hostage rescue mission, a resurgent Soviet Union in full control of Eastern Europe. Reagan was able to right the American ship and begat a generation of American prosperity. He gained the respect of friend and foe alike. I still remember his ringing command at the Berlin Wall "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

I also deeply admire George Washington and Abraham Lincoln - both tower over other Presidents. Washington was indeed the father of our country, He won the war against a far superior foe through sound leadership during a war that lasted almost 8 years. Then he was an incredible role model as our first President - with no prior example to follow. Had he been a lesser man, America would never have achieved its greatness.

Lincoln led the United States through a most difficult Civil War. He was widely criticized for many of his actions from the time he was first elected. His intelligence and wisdom were unparalleled. Even so, he was on a path to lose re-election in 1864 until Sherman conquered Atlanta. The emancipation proclamation was very controversial at the time and infuriated the South. Despite knowing this, he wisely pushed it forth. A truly great man.
1) Personal integrity.

2) Don't make promises that you can't or won't keep.

3) Represent your constituents.
1) Intelligence

2) Broad experience in business, government and military
3) Thorough understanding of economy and how to encourage growth

4) Traditional "Ronald Reagan" GOP values
My first job was growing crops on my family's farm. I started when I was 7 and continued until I left for college at age 17.
In Nevada, the governor leads since the legislature is part-time. I think this is appropriate for Nevada at the current time. However, I believe the legislature should not abdicate its powers to the governor as it did by giving emergency powers to the governor for over 2 years. This is just wrong.
Sufficient clean water is always the biggest challenge for a desert state. Besides this, we must face the challenges of improving Nevada's K-12 education system. An immediate challenge is fixing the voting system so that all voters can trust the outcome of elections so we can avoid the destructive nature of the aftermath of 2020.
I favor the current system of term limits which basically limits legislators to 12 years.
It should be some type of independent body, with more or less equal representation from each party and representation from independents. There should be a supermajority (60%) required to recommend a plan to the legislature.
Yes. Compromise is a lost art in modern-day politics.
