Alabama County Bond Issues, Amendment 39 (1961)

The Alabama County Bond Issues, Amendment 39, also known as Amendment 39, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 5, 1961, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that Mobile County would be authorized to become indebted up to $1,737,000 through the sale of bonds and the bonds would be secured via an ad valorem tax authorized in Amendment XVIII of the state constitution. The revenue derived from the issue of the above bonds would be for county improvements.[1]
