Alabama County Health Facility Tax, Amendment 3 (1949)

The Alabama County Health Facility Tax, Amendment 3, also known as Amendment 3, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 13, 1949, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that all counties, except Mobile and Jefferson, would be authorized, provided the electors vote by majority, to levy and collect a special county tax for the purpose of funding public hospitals. Furthermore, in anticipation of revenue from the said tax, the counties may issue bonds, not exceeding 75 percent of the annual proceeds from the said tax.[1]
