Alabama County Property Tax, Amendment 6 (1969)

The Alabama County Property Tax, Amendment 6, also known as Amendment 6, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 9, 1969, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that each city and county would be authorized to levy and collect a property tax of not less than five cents and no more than 50 cents on each $100 worth of taxable property for the purpose of funding a public library. The above must be first approved by a majority of electors.[1]
