Alabama County Tax, Amendment 22 (1961)

The Alabama County Tax, Amendment 22, also known as Amendment 22, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 5, 1961, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that Lamar County be permitted to levy and collect an additional county tax of 50 cents on each $100 worth of taxable property for public school funding. The tax must be approved by a majority of electors.[1]
