On January 12, 2010, House Bill 204 was introduced to the Alabama House of Representatives by Reps. Mike Ball, Mac McCutcheon, and Randy Wood. The bill would require a probate judge or anyone recording court proceedings to redact sensitive information submitted to the court, such as social security numbers. The bill unanimously passed the Alabama House of Representatives on February 17, 2010, but stalled in the Alabama State Senate in March 2010.[1]
