On January 12, 2010, House Bill 77 was introduced to the Alabama House of Representatives by Rep. Mike Ball and was sponsored by Reps. Gregory Canfield, Mac McCutcheon, and Cam Ward. The bill was postponed indefinitely in the Government Operations Committee.
The bill would have required candidates, public officials, those with contracts from the state, county or municipality and their spouses to disclose basic personal information to the state which then becomes public record.[1]
