I support expanding our Pre-K program and providing our teachers and schools with more funding and resources. Our children deserve the safest and highest quality education possible. I believe that strengthening our schools, respecting and supporting teachers, and expanding access to college education or training in a skilled trade will make our State a better place to live, attract investors and keep our children here.

I will vote to eliminate the tax on groceries. This tax is perhaps the most regressive tax imaginable. People should not have to pay a sales tax to feed themselves and their families.

I support expanding Medicaid. A recent study showed that if Alabama expanded Medicaid today and took advantage of the incentives to expand coverage it would save the State approximately one billion dollars over the next five years.
I believe that strengthening workplace protections and empowering workers to act collectively will create wealth and spread prosperity. I support providing public employees the right to collectively bargain and protecting the right of private sector employees to form a Union. I will fight to improve workers' comp. statutes, so employees receive the full benefits they need. I have spent decades helping working people in Alabama and I won't stop once I get to Montgomery!
