Limited Government/Low taxes. Government should be limited so that we are free to run our businesses and raise our children without mandates or over regulation. The government should not pick winners or losers, they should not decide which businesses are essential and who should remain open or closed. Parents should make decisions for their children regarding their education and medical care. I would not have supported the gas tax in 2019 . I believe with infrastructure funding forthcoming and other revenue streams we could have found funding elsewhere. I think it is time to look at eliminating the state grocery tax and the gas tax.

Education. The time is now to do something to bring real change to our education system. The answer is not throwing more money at a broken system. In District 45, I believe the residents feel we have good schools, but we must be diligent to continue to improve. I will work with and l listen to the educators in our district as well as parents to always try to represent what is best for our children.

Protecting the Integrity of our Elections. People should know their vote is safe and that each vote cast is legal. I support election audits. I believe the state should handle our elections not the Federal government. I believe a paper ballot should back up each electronic vote and the ballot must be protected and secured. No drop boxes . Absentee ballots for authorized reasons only .
Limited Government

Personal Freedom and Privacy

Individual Responsibility
Government overreach- The government is seeking to control too much of our everyday lives and we need to fight back. Deciding which businesses can remain open , who has to be vaccinated, requiring we wear a mask to get on a plane, ESG- Environment Social Government scores control too many business decisions. What's next? The Social Credit Scoring like the Chinese have?

Term Limits- When it come to state elections I feel that 2 terms (eight years )is enough. The constitutional offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, Auditor, Treasurer and Agriculture Commissioner and others all are limited to two terms . I believe the State House and State Senate should be limited to 2 terms as well. I support term limits bill HB317 in the current session.

Limiting Special Interest Donations- Alabama is one of only five states that allows unlimited contributions from special interest groups. These special interest groups buy votes and favor in our state and it needs to stop.
NO MORE TAXES: You work hard for every single dollar you earn, and those dollars belong in your pocket. In times of economic uncertainty, every citizen must learn how to live within a budget, and our government should be able to do the same. With sky-rocketing fuel prices and record-breaking inflation, I would work to immediately repeal Kay Ivey’s misguided gas tax and to eliminate sales tax on basic necessities, such as groceries and medicine. I will never, ever support any new taxes on the people of Alabama.

TERM LIMITS: Enough is enough. We have to stop politicians from occupying office for decades and doing little to nothing for the people of Alabama. Representatives should be limited to a maximum of two terms. Public office should be where dedicated people go to work hard to solve difficult problems — not where lazy people go to relax and gather wealth.

EDUCATION: We are fortunate to have highly-ranked school systems in much of our district, but there is still too much power in the hands of administrators and not enough with parents who pay the taxes and entrust their children’s minds to these systems. In too many cases, administrators and association members forget that the priority is educating children in the fundamentals of academics. When schools fall short, parents need the ability to choose a school system that better reflects their children’s educational needs. I support funding families — rather than systems alone — to ensure parental choice is protected.
I admire President Ronald Reagan because as President of the United States he was a true leader of the free world . He was the very definition of a conservative. I admire his communication skills, his leadership ability, his wit and his ability recognize and fight the threat of communism. I wish he were alive to lead us today.
Someone of integrity who is accountable to the people. Servant hearted, hard working, Judeo-Christian values and the ability to communicate well. Balance all of this with being humble and remembering you work for the people.
Leadership skills, communication skills, relationship building skills, integrity, family focused, servant's heart.
I am a tireless worker; I am good at thoughtfully considering multiple sides of an argument; I’m eager to get things done; I am passionate about personal liberty and privacy; I am fortunate through my activities and interests to have a very wide range of friends, who fit many different categories — this gives me a better understanding of why different people believe different things, and how we can find the common ground between them.
To be a voice for the citizens in my district, and to direct and influence the mechanisms of government in a way which either serves the people or stays out of their way.
I remember 1969 when hurricane Camille hit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was 6 years old and I was supposed to start 1st grade. Our house survived but many around us lost everything. When I did start first grade several weeks late, I was in the first integrated class of public school children. I didn't know this at the time but that was the first year that black and white children went to school together in Mississippi. It didn't seem historic to me just normal.
The Challenger explosion. I was seven years old and watched it with my school classmates.
I was 16 and worked the breakfast shift at Hardees in Ocean Springs, Ms. Remember how everyone loved those Hardees biscuits? I arrived at work at 5:00am and worked until either 10:30 or 2:30. I did this throughout high school. I believe my starting salary was $2.10 an hour. I loved earning my own money and it was here I learned the value of hard work and feeling of accomplishment in earning your own money. I didn't have to depend on others for money and I controlled my own opportunities. I knew I would go to college and with hard work would be a success. We taught our own children the value of hard work and providing for yourself.
A Gentleman in Mosco by Amor Towles. I love historical fiction. It weaves the devastation caused by the Bolsheviks with heartfelt story of a Count sentenced to house arrest in the Hotel Metropol in central Moscow.
It’s impossible to choose just one. Some books that have had a significant impact on me throughout my life are: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell, 1984 by George Orwell, Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, You Are Here by Thich Nhat Hanh, and Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.
Bryan Adams, Summer of '69. Such an earworm!
I believe the governor and state legislature share a balance of power and the relationship is an important part of the checks and balances required to make sure one branch of government is not given too much power. The governor should allow the state legislature to act independently and not exert undue influence. The governor has the power of the veto, that is a powerful check on the legislature.
1. Dealing with an uncertain economy and rapid inflation. During times like this, every family has to set and follow a budget, and our government should be able to do the same.

2. Improving academics in education and empowering parents to have more voice in our educational systems. On a related note, we need to prevent radical political ideologies from being pushed in schools.

3. Prison overpopulation and mismanagement. Alabama incarcerates more of its citizens per capita than any other state or COUNTRY in the world. This is an unacceptable distinction. The prison system in Alabama is a billion-dollar private industry that feeds on taxpayer dollars, and I feel our money and our community would be better served if we took a hard look at how the system is currently operating.
Not necessarily. Sometimes I think our government gets too mired in the way things have always been done. We need fresh, relevant ideas brought to government on a regular basis. Normal, working people with no previous political experience might have a more acute understanding of the challenges facing other normal, working people.
I am most interested in the Constitution Campaigns and Elections Committee . I believe the safety and integrity of our elections are most essential. I would want to be a part of insuring fair safe elections where every citizen has the opportunity to vote and I support our current voter ID law. I also would be interested in the Economic Development and Tourism committee, the Shelby County County Legislation Committee and the Jefferson County Legislation Committee.
I would be happy to serve on any committee where I can contribute ideas of fiscal responsibility and individual liberty, but a few that might be of particular interest to me are the Shelby County Legislation Committee; Fiscal Responsibility Committee; Constitution, Campaigns and Elections Committee; Joint Legislative Prison Committee; and Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks.
Yes I believe the governor alone should not have the exclusive ability to approve a prolonged state of emergency. I was in support of HB 97 filed in the 2021 legislative session . This bill would require legislators to approve the extension of any state health emergency in excess of two weeks.
Yes. I won’t try to sell you simplistic solutions to the complex problems we face. The current two-party system has led to too much divisiveness. We must work hard to find common ground, sensible compromise, and to foster a sense of cooperative human connection. It is my belief that our country is unique in the world — we must preserve and protect the democratic principles and classical liberal ideas upon which it was founded.
