The Alabama Mobile County Tax Amendment, also known as Amendment 13, was on the ballot in Alabama on September 13, 1977, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. This measure proposed an increase in ad valorem taxes in Mobile County. The revenue from this tax would be used to fund an increase in the salaries paid to county and municipal fire and emergency services personnel.[1]
