The Alabama Municipal Property Tax, Amendment 18, also known as Amendment 18, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 5, 1961, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the city of Muscle Shoals be permitted to levy and collect a special property tax of five mills on each dollar's worth of taxable property for public school funding. The tax must be approved by a majority of electors.[1]
