The Alabama Public Utility Limitations, Amendment 5, also known as Amendment 5, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 13, 1949, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed to limit to 30 years, the use of streets, alleys, avenues, ways or public places for the construction or operation of any telephone, telegraph, light, power, water or transportation system.[1]
