Alabama Special County District Tax, Amendment 44 (1961)

The Alabama Special County District Tax, Amendment 44, also known as Amendment 44, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 5, 1961, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that Tallapoosa County would be authorized to levy and collect a special district tax of 50 cents on each $100 worth of taxable property in Districts three and four. The revenue from the above tax would be for public hospital use. The tax must be approved by a majority of electors in Districts three and four.[1]
