The Alabama State Indebtedness, Amendment 2, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 5, 1961, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed to authorize the state to become indebted up to $3 million by issuing bonds for the purpose of improving the University of Alabama Research Institute at Huntsville.[1]
