Alabama State Maintenance of County Roads, Amendment 2 (1960)

The Alabama State Maintenance of County Roads, Amendment 2, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Alabama on February 16, 1960, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the legislature is prohibited from appointing the state highway department to maintain county roads, unless such proposal has been approved by a majority of electors. Furthermore, the state highway department must obtain the written permission of the director or the majority of the county governing board.[1]
