Alabama State and Local Government, Amendment 36 (1965)

The Alabama State and Local Government, Amendment 36, also known as Amendment 36, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 30, 1965, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment stated the following: "The legislature shall not pass a special or local law affecting Winston County or any city, town, village, district, or other such political subdivision of the county, unless the operation of such law shall be approved by a vote of the duly qualified electors of such county city, town, village, district, or other political subdivision of the county, at an election held for such purpose, in the manner prescribed by such law."[1]
